A task force of the U.S. military’s most elite special operators deployed to Europe to support President Joe Biden’s 23-hour visit to Ukraine, according to two former military officials familiar with the visit.

The support from Joint Special Operations Command is a normal feature of presidential trips to combat zones and other high-risk locations, and just one of the ways in which such visits differ markedly from presidential trips to safer locales, according to former Secret Service and special operations personnel.
